Starting roughly at 2:15 in the above video, I created an animation sequence highlighting many of the important features of a bodysuit being produced by a NYC startup called Wantsuit. The goal for this project was to give the new company a solid representation of their product that they could also use as a foundation for other branding. My animation incorporates two 3D models of the suit styles that slowly spin, while callouts extend to become visible and track along the suit to point out key features as a narrator mentions them. At several points I animated and tracked some on-suit highlights of the bra and panty liner, and there’s also a zoomed-in image to highlight the suit’s snaps.
I used After Effects for the animation and callout tracking, Cinema 4D for the body suit modeling and animation, and Photoshop for image editing and retouching.
After meeting with the Wantsuit founder and the project videographer, I was given a brand style guide, a copy of the funding proposal, and a prototype suit. These assets guided my choices for fonts and color, and the suit provided great detail that helped very much with my 3D modeling and lighting.
Throughout several meetings and calls with the client and videographer, I was able to secure approval for the overall look and feel of the 3D components and callout animations. There were some different iterations of the voiceover to include, along with some minor edits to the shape and color of the suit models.
My final animation was delivered to the videographer to incorporate in the longer promotional video posted above. It was used both on Wantsuit’s Kickstarter page and on the company’s website. I also produced some collateral imagery for the team to use in other branding and marketing material.
