The client was a theater promotion company, and they wanted to promote the upcoming 2019 Tony Awards in a very timely way, on social media. This capitalized on viewers’ interest during the show and increased social enagagement. My job was to make an Instagram template for them to swap in actor information for rapid posting during the award show. The company wanted these posts to mimic some of the functionality of another influencer’s style, so that was my main source of visual direction.
I used After Effects for the animation, and Illustrator and Photoshop to prep any vector or bitmap source imagery.
There was already an extensive marketing campaign in place for this broadway show, so assets were plentiful. Photos, music, video, and other illustrations - I wanted for nothing, but organization was the main issue in the beginning.
We communicated remotely via Google sheets and Wipster, to make edits on early versions of the animation like this one. Turnaround time was tight - overnight on the weekend - so organization and communication were paramount.
The final product was a tremendously organized template file. All the effects were applied to precomps and baked in, so the only steps necessary to swap in a new cast member were to change the photo and type new copy.
