The goal of this post was simply to maintain awareness of the Durex brand. The timing coinciding with Easter only touched on the commercial side of the holiday (the bunny and eggs), instead of anything overtly religious. It was not indicative of any targeting of christian users, but just reflected the brand’s desire to have a steady stream of posts on all major occasions in the year to keep awareness up. My job was to source the imagery and footage and to produce the animation. I also worked with a copy writer to help decide on the wording.
I used Photoshop for asset prep, and After Effects to animate.
My social media manager and I came up with the idea for this post, and we knew we wanted to have a rabbit as the “star.” Without access to an actual rabbit to shoot, I needed to source some appropriate footage of rabbits that would fit the needs of our post’s specs.
I decided not to attach the string to the condom by piercing the foil in any way (for obvious hygienic reasons). So to create this “condom-on-a-rope” I used a Durex foil shot and created a loop and knot from a single straight rope image with some Photoshop surgery.
The rope’s animation was made using the After Effects puppet pin tool, to allow a static image asset to “bend” in a more fluid way. It allowed the swinging condom pack to actually appear to swing in and out of the frame.
